Technology...we can't seem to live without it. These days it seems to be a necessary evil. I keep coming across various technology inspired articles and thought this would make a good focus for this month's eNewsletter. I keep hearing about Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter...I wonder what is it? I came across the following article from Manulife that does a great job in describing the various types of Social Media and thought you might enjoy the read. CLICK HERE for the article.
This eNewsletter includes everything from hints on using your blackberry, the real cost of that iPad purchase today, to the future of having your credit cards available for purchases with the tap of your phone. Also included is some timely information on a housing bubble in Canada, Canada Day Celebrations, a Country Festival & BBQ Fun to get your summer started. Be sure to check out the sidebar of this eNewsletter for more information. I hope you enjoy this month's technology themed reading.

Google Wallet...a New Credit Card App Coming Soon...
Coming soon to an android phone near you is "Google Wallet"; an app that will turn your phone into your credit card(s). What a facinating new way to pay. With the tap of your phone you've downloaded a coupon. With the tap of your phone you've paid for your purchase. And if the chip is touched or tampered with in any way it goes "James Bond" on you!

The $2,000 iPad
When someone asks me if I've changed my mind yet and now want one of Apple's new iPads, I tell them: "Well, even if I did, I probably wouldn't want to spend $2,000 on one." They generally looked at me, baffled. "What do you mean, $2,000? I thought they started at $500." But I figure $2,000 is the minimum that Steve Jobs' new toy is going to cost me. How come? Simple. If I don't spend that $500, I'll invest it.
This is the opening of Brett Arends' article "The $2,000 iPad" for the Wall Street Journal. He does a great job getting one to think about the future cost of something that is purchased today.

Housing Bubble?
Canada's housing market is entering overheated territory and many Canadians could be financially hurt once interest rates begin to rise, Bank of Canada governor Mark Carney is warning.
The central banker took his case for moderation on Wednesday to Vancouver, the epicentre of Canada's hot housing market where he says home prices are now on par with Hong Kong and Sydney, Australia, as they relate to average incomes.
Some sectors of the market, like condos in big cities, could overshoot because of speculation from foreign investors. CLICK HERE to read more on the article "Carney warns of trouble in overheated housing market once interest rates rise" by Keven Drews for the Canadian Press on June 15, 2011.
I found this article to be of particular interest since it talks quite a bit about us here in Vancouver.
